The Mission of the Citizens Academy is to Develop and Unite Community Leaders
Would you like to learn more about your local City government?
If so, please apply to be a part of the Citizens Academy. This free program, open to Palos Verdes Estates residents, familiarizes participants with municipal operations/services, budgeting, police and fire services, environmental programs, community recreation as well as the City’s history and vision for the future. This helps prepare local citizens who may serve as resources, ambassadors, volunteers, and future elected and appointed leaders of the City. The Citizens Academy is a 10-session program that takes place from May 2018 through the mid September 2018. Class sessions are scheduled on Wednesdays from 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM. The final session is a graduation ceremony and recognition from the City Council at one of their meetings. In order to be eligible to graduate, participants must attend a minimum of eight of the ten sessions. Participation is limited to a maximum of 25 people. High school students are encouraged to apply.
