Caregiver Arrested in Elder Financial Abuse Investigation; Detectives Seeking Additional Potential Victims

May 13, 2026

Palos Verdes Estates, CA - Palos Verdes Estates Police Department detectives have arrested a caregiver in connection with an ongoing elder financial abuse investigation involving fraudulent use of a senior resident’s financial accounts.

On Monday, April 13, 2026, a resident of Palos Verdes Estates reported that her caretaker, identified as Jacqueline Huey, had allegedly been using multiple credit cards and financial accounts without authorization to make fraudulent purchases beginning in February 2026.

Following the investigation, Palos Verdes Estates Police Department Detectives conducted surveillance related to the case and obtained both an arrest warrant for Huey and a search warrant for her residence.

On Thursday, May 7, 2026, the PVEPD Special Response Team executed the warrants in Palmdale, CA, where they arrested Huey without incident and recovered significant evidence related to the investigation. Evidence recovered included stolen credit cards, fraudulent checks, and multiple notebooks and ledgers allegedly documenting fraudulent activity involving numerous financial accounts.

Huey was arrested on the following charges:

• California Penal Code 487(e) – Aggregate Grand Theft

• California Penal Code 368(e) – Elder Abuse by a Caretaker

Detectives believe there may be additional victims connected to this investigation, particularly seniors or vulnerable individuals who may have received caregiving assistance from Huey.

Investigators are concerned that some victims may not yet realize they have been targeted, while others may have had suspicions but never reported the incidents to law enforcement.

Anyone who may have had contact with Jacqueline Huey in a caregiving capacity, or who knows someone she may have cared for, is encouraged to contact the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department Detective Bureau.

Anyone with information related to this case is asked to contact Detective Sisson at (310) 750-9833.
