 Additional application period for upcoming Commission/Committee Vacancies now open! 

Applications must be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office by 5:00 P.M. Monday, July 20, 2020. To be considered for appointment, an applicant must be a resident of the City of Palos Verdes Estates and a registered voter.  An “Application for Civic Service” can be requested from the City Clerk’s Office, 340 Palos Verdes Drive West, Palos Verdes Estates, CA  90274, by phone at 310-378-0383, or obtained at the link below. Current incumbents wishing to serve an additional term should submit an application.

The City Council will conduct all applicant interviews at a Special Meeting tentatively scheduled for Saturday, July 25, 2020.

CITY OF PALOS VERDES ESTATES

COMMISSIONS AND COMMITTEES UPCOMING VACANCIES

PLANNING COMMISSION 2-year term

The Planning Commission develops the building, planning and public works standards and technical criteria which constitute the development review process. The Planning Commission also reviews all projects for which discretionary approval is required. Planning Commission meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at City Hall. The Commission consists of five members serving two-year, staggered terms.

PARKLANDS COMMITTEE 2-year term

The Parklands Committee primarily reviews private citizen requests relating to vegetation within the parkland or unimproved right-of-way. The City’s Tree Management Policy defines the process for requesting the topping or removal of vegetation/trees on public property. They also review requests for new planting in public areas. The Parklands Committee meets at Bi-monthly on the second Thursday of odd months. The Committee consists of five members serving two-year, staggered terms.

TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMITTEE 2-year term

The Traffic Safety Committee reviews certain traffic-related requests and concerns, particularly regarding traffic volumes and speeds. The City's Traffic Calming Program outlines a process and approved techniques for reducing traffic volumes and speeds. The Traffic Safety Committee meets quarterly on the first Wednesday of the last month of each quarter.

INVESTMENT POLICY ADVISORY COMMITTEE 2-year term

The Investment Policy Advisory Committee works with the City Treasurer to advise the City Council in all matters of investments and banking.

FINANCE ADVISORY COMMITTEE 2-year term

The Finance Advisory Committee provides input and recommendation to the City Council on: matters of the City budget; long-range financial planning; and fiscal liability matters. Finance Advisory Committee meetings are held monthly on the first Thursday.

LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES SPECIAL TAX OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE 2-year term

The Law Enforcement Services Special Tax Oversight Committee is a five-member citizen committee comprised of members appointed by the City Council that annually reviews and audits expenditures of revenues derived from the law enforcement services special tax.
