Police and Fire Departments are operationally ready to respond to all local emergencies. 

  • City is currently at a level 3 response and has activated the in support of the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • On March 22nd Additional information regarding some of the new cases are pending completion of investigations. Over the last 48 hours there have been 132 new cases. To date, Public Health has identified 409 cases across all areas in LA County including five deaths.  Upon completion of investigations, 12 cases reported earlier were not LA County residents. As of today, 84 positive cases have been hospitalized.
  • On March 21st Public Health issued an enhanced Health Officer Order to reconcile elements in the March 19 Health Officer Order necessary to be consistent with the Governor’s Order.The enhanced Order prohibits all gatherings and events, and clarifies that golf courses and personal grooming services (including hair and nail salons) are non-essential services that are closed.The County Order can be found online:
    • Public Health has issued the following guidance during this time of increased spread:
      • If you are mildly sick, stay home for at least seven days or until 72 hours after being fever free, whichever is longer. Call your doctor if you are concerned and/or your symptoms worsen. Individuals who are elderly, have underlying health conditions or pregnant should consider contacting their providers earlier when they are sick.
      • Public Health reminds LA County residents to do their part by adhering to the Order by always practicing social distancing.
      • Additional things you can do to protect yourself, your family and your community are on the Public Health website.


  • Effective March 19, 2020 at 7 pm, the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department lobby closed.Community members requiring non-emergency services may contact the police at 310-378-4211 or utilize the Ring system outside the front doors.Vehicle releases, citation payments, and report requests will be done by appointment only. Call 310-378-4211 in advance to set-up an available appointment.These protocols will remain in effect until further notice.


  • Effective March 19, 2020, all City Concessions (Beach Club, Golf Course and Stables) are closed.Please do not golf on the Golf Course or let dogs off leash.Also, please do not participate in groups activities that do not promote social distancing. Individuals may still walk or jog through the parklands, provided they maintain a social distance of six feet.


On March 19, 2020, the Los Angeles County Health Officer issued the “Safer at Home Order for Control of COVID-19” which applies to most Los Angeles County cities including Palos Verdes Estates.  This order was superseded on March 21st.  Governor Newsom also issued Executive Order N-33-20, which orders all individuals living in the State of California to stay at home or at their place of residence.  The exceptions to this order are those who work in the 16 critical infrastructure sectors defined at as well as those needing such necessities as food, prescriptions, and health care. When people need to leave their homes or places of residence, whether to obtain or perform the functions above, or to otherwise facilitate authorized necessary activities, they should at all times practice social distancing.

Reporting totals are only reported from the County for cities with populations more than 25,000 residents. Therefore, it does not represent “no reported cases” in Palos Verdes Estates or on the Peninsula, therefore continue to use safety precautions.  Cities under 25k are reported with an adjoining city with a population over 25k.

Palos Verdes Estates’ PVE-CARES Senior Program is working provide for the needs of elderly and those with medical issues that have been advised to remain indoors.

Palos Verdes Estates is looking towards long range solutions for delivering meals on wheels.

Palos Verdes Estates activated its Disaster Council to monitor the situation and coordinate plans and actions in preparation for pandemic conditions.
