Interim City Manager - Carolynn Petru
The City of Palos Verdes Estates is pleased to announce the appointment of Carolynn Petru as Interim City Manager. The City Council confirmed Mrs. Petru's appointment at its City Council meeting on Tuesday, May 14, 2019. Mrs. Petru will oversee City operations while the City Council searches for a new permanent City Manager.
Carolynn Petru moved with her family to the Palos Verdes Peninsula in 1966 and is a graduate of Palos Verdes High School. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning from UC Davis and a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from UCLA. She retired from the City of Rancho Palos Verdes in 2015, where she spent 29 years serving the community.
For most of her career, she was the Deputy City Manager, working on special projects for the City Council and supervising several functional areas, including public safety, emergency preparedness, community outreach, human resources and information/technology.
Other positions she held at one time or another included Director of Planning, City Clerk, Director of Recreation & Parks, and just prior to her retirement, Acting City Manager. Carolynn is currently the Board Vice President of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Board President of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Village (a non-profit helping seniors age in place in their own homes) and Chair of the RPV Civic Center Advisory Committee.
She lives in Rancho Palos Verdes with her husband Andy and their three very fluffy and spoiled cats.
