The City Treasurer serves as Chair of the Investment Policy Advisory Committee. For more information about the City Treasurer, please visit http://www.pvestates.org/government/finance/city-treasurer.

For more background information on the establishment of the Investment Policy Advisory Committee, please review Ordinance 17-720 "Establishment of an Investment Policy Advisory Committee."

With the City Treasurer, the Committee shall be responsible for recommending investment brokers, proposing changes to investment policy and practices, presenting investment reports, and evaluating and recommending banking-related matters. Meetings are to review, discuss and develop recommendation on matters such as investment and banking vendors, policy, transactions, returns and performance, brokers, and strategy.

In Palos Verdes Estates, the role of the Investment Advisory Committee is to:

  • Review and recommend investment policies and instruments
  • Review investment practices and transactions for conformance to adopted policies and procedures
  • Evaluate investment performance in relation to the City's Investment Policy

Investment Policy Advisory Committee Meetings  

The Investment Policy Advisory Committee is comprised of two City residents appointed by the City Council and  two ex-officio non-voting members who are (i) the city manager or city manager’s designee; and (ii) and an external auditor as selected by the mayor and approved by the council. Commissioners serve for a two-year term and may be re-appointed for successive terms. Commissioners generally learn and/or have knowledge of investments, banking practices, etc.
