18 Residents Graduate from the 2017 Citizens Academy Program

2017 Citizens Academy Graduation

At its July 25, 2017 meeting, the City Council recognized the 2017 class of the Citizens Academy for their efforts and provided a certificate to each participant to acknowledge graduation from the program. To view a recording of the ceremony, please visit

The Citizens Academy is a free program offered to Palos Verdes Estates residents and is civic engagement program that connects City residents with their local City government. It provides an opportunity for participants to understand the detailed workings of the City and in turn, serve the community as ambassadors and volunteers. Sessions focused on municipal operations/services, budgeting, police and fire services, recreation opportunities as well as the City’s history.

The 2017 class consists of 18 residents, of which one is a student at Palos Verdes High School, and they have spent the last three months attending classes and learning through an experiential curriculum to gain a better understanding of city services and operations.
