PVEPD Public Information Bulletin: Theft
Public Information Bulletin -Theft
On the night of March 26, 2017, there were three reports of thefts from unlocked vehicles in the area of Via Borica and Via Rivera, which is near the border with the City of Rancho Palos Verdes. Palos Verdes Estates Police Department Detectives reached out to LASD-Lomita and learned there were also similar thefts reported along the border of Rancho Palos Verdes.
On Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at about 9:15 pm, an alert resident noticed two males in his driveway in the 1000 block of Via Fortuna. The resident shined a flashlight on the males and they fled on foot. He immediately called PVEPD, and officers were dispatched to the area. Officers arrived within minutes and located the two males walking nearby. A short time later, another resident in the same area, contacted the PVEPD and reported his vehicle had been ransacked and property taken. Officers used this information to link the two subjects they had detained to the theft. Based on their investigation, officers arrested the two males for suspicion of possessing stolen property and suspicion of vehicle burglary.
The following day, PVEPD detectives served a search warrant at one of the suspect’s residence in Rancho Palos Verdes in an attempt to locate additional stolen property.
The case is still under investigation by the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department Detective Bureau. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Charles Reed at 310-378-4211.
Please make sure you keep your vehicles locked and valuables out of view.
