Mayor Betty Lin Peterson’s Statement Regarding Home Invasion Robbery on July 8, 2018

Post Date:07/11/2018 12:50 PM

On the evening of July 8, 2018, the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department responded to a home invasion robbery in the 1300 block of Via Coronel.  Fortunately, and we are pleased to share that the victims were not harmed.

The suspects left with unknown property. The PVE Police Department is investigating the incident with all our resources. It is a priority, and officers are canvassing the neighborhood for possible witnesses and video. The Police Department is sharing intelligence with other law enforcement agencies in surrounding cities to determine if this crime is related to others occurring in the South Bay, processing evidence and sending items to the crime lab for scientific testing.

Please know the City and Police Department are working tirelessly and look forward to bringing these suspects to justice. We take this situation very seriously and will pursue this until it is resolved.

If you have any information that would be helpful to the investigation, please contact Detective Sergeant Luke Hellinga at (310) 378-4211.

Additionally, for information on how to keep your home safe, please visit the City’s website for property crime prevention tips. (

Most importantly, we must all work together and remain vigilant to maintain the wonderful quality of life we enjoy in Palos Verdes Estates. We want to remind you if you see something, say something. Anything you see that may be suspicious, please call our Police Department. They are here to respond.

Thank you.
