Intern Highlight Series: Madhe Awad
The Palos Verdes Estates Internship Program is an unpaid academic driven program that provides a unique opportunity for participants to gain valuable professional experience and build leadership skills through practical application. This program provides a hands-on opportunity for future leaders who aspire to work in public service to strengthen their understanding of the City of Palos Verdes Estates and prepare them for their future.
The Intern Highlight Series will feature our interns who work behind-the-scenes with staff and have opportunities to interact with the public as a representative of the City.

Description of Work: The Planning and Public Works Departments collect plans for every construction project in the City- that’s a lot of paper! Madhe is working with incredible speed to catalogue files for past projects so they can be moved to the City’s archived records. He’s also helped to organized the rolls of plans submitted, clearing up space in the small work area as well as with stuffing envelopes with notices for residents and creating labels for folders.
What were you most surprised about interning at a government office?
I didn’t have many thoughts about what it would be like to work in a government office so nothing surprised me.
What do you enjoy most about your internship?
Working with co-workers, they’re very sweet. I like helping other people and I like that the work I have done is helpful.
